木匠工人如果只是不停地以鋸子鋸木頭,鋸子會漸漸鈍掉,因此需要不時投資一些時間把鋸子磨利 (Sharpen the Saw)。

工欲善其事,必先利其器。對於知識工作者來說,不時吸收新知,就是所謂的 Sharpen the Saw。

The Physical Dimension 身、生理層面


如何有效地照料我們的身體:
食用對的食物
參閱:這樣吃最健康
參閱:救命飲食:越營養,越危險
充份的休息與放鬆
參閱:睡出活力
規律的運動
好的運動對身體的幫助:
endurance - aerobic exercise, cardiovascular efficiency (Murphy: 健走)
flexibility - stretching (Murphy: 瑜珈)
strength - muscle resistance exercise (Murphy: 伏地挺身)
Murphy: 練氣功(如平甩功)對身體也很有幫助。

The Mental Dimension 心、心理層面


閱讀
broadly and expose yourself to great minds.
寫作
communicate on the deeper level of thoughts, feelings, and ideas rather than on the shallow, superficial level of events -- affects our ability
to think clearly,
to reason accurately
to be understood effectively
keep a journal of our thoughts, experiences, insights, and learnings
promotes mental clarity, exactness, and context.
Organizing and planning
exercise the visualizing, imagining power of your mind
to see the end from the beginning
to see the entire journey

The Spiritual Dimension 靈、心靈層面 - Value Clarification & Commitment, Study & Meditation


The spiritual dimension is your core, your center, your commitment to your value system.

Q: "How do you maintain that serenity and peace?"

Zen Master: "I never leave my place of meditation."

Meditate early in the morning.

For the rest of the day, carry the peace of those moments with you in your mind and heart.

Do it in our normal everyday interactions with other people.

Scripting Others


Most people are a function of the social mirror, scripted by the opinions, the perceptions, the paradigms of the people around them.

Be a positive scripter, an affirmer.

Goethe taught, "Treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is. Treat a man as he can and should be and he will become as he can and should be."

Renewal is the principle -- and the process -- that empowers us to move on an upward spiral of growth and change, of continuous improvement.
